About me

Michael is a freelance Spanish to English translator. He specializes in the field of media translation. From a very young age, he has had a passion for language and cultures. Michael is bilingual in English and Spanish and has intermediate skills in Mandarin Chinese. He developed these skills during his time at the University of Massachusetts Boston, where he graduated summa cum laude in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Latin American and Iberian Studies with emphasis on translation and advanced Spanish along with a minor in the Chinese language.

 

​Overall, he has received two years of translation training at the University of Massachusetts Boston, where he obtained an Certificate in Translation in June 2021.

 

​Currently, he is focusing on translating journalism, subtitling, and other related forms of media. He also has experience in editing and proofreading.

 

​In addition, during his university studies as well as through separate specialized courses, Michael has gained knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Computer Assisted Translations (CAT) tools such as SDL Trados, and subtitling platforms Amara and AegiSub.

 

Michael also has over twenty years of customer service and accounting experience.

 

​Michael is currently a member of the New England Translators Association (NETA) and the American Translators Association (ATA).
